Now Hearts of Iron passes by on Hourly turns, but there is some stuff that isn't processed every hour turn but instead every day. Time acceleration is pretty much just changing the speed of how fast the turns go by. It runs shogun 2 maxed out so i have no idea what is wrongParadox games, although might seem like real time are actually turn based games just their turns are very small and pass by automatically. NVIDEA GeForce GTX 295 x2 3684MB (version 8.) I have got hearts of iron 3 with semper fi and FOM patched up to date.but it still lags uncontrollably at 00:00 each day :/ my system easily meets the required specs but ill post my rig anyway just incase somethings not right. EU3, money is the sinews of war, the richer you are, the more advanced your tech can become, money can be used for bribes at least Money in Vicky2, basically worthless, you can buy things from the world market, and units cost upkeep in money (and need mp to reinforce) but other than that, money isn't worth a whole lot. Prestige in EU3 either penalizes or rewards you with global bonuses. Prestige in Vicky2, doesn't do a whole lot. Gameplay elements somehow come together into a more coherent package.

There's even a WW1 mod being made for HoI3 so I'm kinda excited about that as well.Īs a nation building game, I think EU3 is way more fun and engaging, you really get a sense of guiding your nation through the ages, all the way from medieval to early 1800s. In the end, I'm kind of bored with both games, but I still think HoI3 is a bit better. I think Vicky2 would be a better game if you could convert your savefile to HoI3, but that doesn't really speak highly of the quality of the actual game Vicky2 I mean colonial conquest something like 8 infamy (out of 24 max, prepare for infamy wars LOL!) You get so much infamy from stuff that you can't really go on conquest spree, unless you just disregard it completely and go for an honest WC.

All that matters is the literacy/research/technology, and number of units. Industry being apparently an important factor in the economy model (and the game does portray the so-called second industrial revolution) doesn't matter at all in the long run. But the infamy/diplo model just makes everyone declare on you, and you just gotta slowly trudge through all the enemies and add the wargoals you want and so on.

Then again a good world conquest really spices things up. Vicky2 economy is complicated, intricate, and you cannot really control it (and you can't control a lot of things in that game).Įverytime I play Vicky2, I just feel like this passive observer, I just get bored in that game so easily. HoI3 economic model is all about the warfare, it's simple, but in that warfare context of the game it's a quite functional model. HoI3 also plays smoother on my comp, better compatibility with quad cores. HoI3 gameplay is better, the functionality of the game is better than Vicky2, the period and scope of the game is kind of limited, but the choices you make and how you fight the good old WW2 do matter in the end.

I would say that so far I've enjoyed HoI3 more (I got both games with full expansion, comparing both games un-modded here).
